in 1994 when green day first became famous, they invited pansy division, an openly gay punk band, to open for them for the entire dookie tour knowing full well the responses would be mixed. in 2016/2017, on their revolution radio tour, green day chose only female led punk bands to open for them to help create recognition for these artists in a male dominated scene. this band has always been using their voices for the right reasons and i love them so much for that.

If I’m not mistaken, there was a prom somewhere that was cancelled one time because a lesbian couple wanted to go, so Green Day rented a venue and had a prom for them. Not sure about accuracy, my mom told me about that

yes this is true as well!! green day helped to fund and organize this second prom when the first one was cancelled. the second prom was actually open not only to the students of the school, but also to any other lgbtq+ students as well as supporters in the state of mississippi who wanted to attend as well!!

Billy Joe Armstrong once literally leapt into the crowd at Green Day show and drop-kicked a guy who wouldn’t leave a girl alone.

This exemplifies how do to representation right. Being a straight ally doesn’t mean creating things for LGBT+ people. Its about giving those who are already creating a better stage.

Reminder that in “Legendary Heroes”, Joey is the one to sacrifice himself to save Mokuba

Reminder that his first reflex was to send his Red Eyes to protect a kid he barely knows even though it meant he would “die”

Reminder that Joey jumped in before Atem

Reminder that Joey’s reflex to protect Mokuba was quicker than Seto Kaiba’s

Reminder that Seto Kaiba never hesitates to protect Mokuba, but Joey acted more quickly and did it before Kaiba could even call for his Blue Eyes to move

Reminder that Joey was ALSO the first one to jump on the “Let’s risk our lives to save Kaiba” train in this arc, and that it was his suggestion, Yugi jumped in second

Reminder that all of this is in spite of the fact that Joey- atleast outwardly- still has Issues TM with Kaiba, and that despite saving Mokuba, Kaiba flat-out tells Joey that he has nothing to thank him for, but thanks Atem instead, yet Joey doesn’t seem to hold that against him and just brushes it off because eh Kaiba’s a jerk

Reminder that Joey also volunteered to fight the “‘Champion” at the arena because he wasn’t going to let Yugi do it and risk all of his life points

Reminder that these three episodes were essentially a showcase of Joey’s bravery and selflessness

Reminder that Joey Wheeler is a very good egg who never gets enough credit for being brave, kind, and selfless, just because he talks big, has a temper, and is played for comic releif despite being so much more
