Because I remember disinformation being spread around the last election and I’m sure Russia will bring it back:

  • YOU CAN’T VOTE ONLINE.
  • YOU CAN’T VOTE FROM YOUR PHONE.
  • IN MANY STATES THERE ARE LEGAL CONSEQUENCES FOR PHOTOGRAPHING YOUR BALLOT.
  • DO NOT WEAR CAMPAIGN GEAR TO THE POLLS.
  • DO NOT TRY TO PERSUADE PEOPLE TO VOTE FOR A CANDIDATE AT THE POLLS.
  • DO NOT ENGAGE IN ANY KIND OF POLITICAL DISCOURSE AT THE POLLS.
  • NO ELECTION IS EVER A SURE THING, EVEN IF YOU’RE IN THE BLUEST OR REDDEST OF STATES.  IF SOMEONE TRIES TO TELL YOU THAT YOU CAN SIT THIS ONE OUT, THEY ARE EITHER IGNORANT OR MALICIOUS.
  • VOTE.

I wish i could find this one article written in I believe the 90’s that went under the radar on abortion. The author said that the “life” arguments are basically useless on either side and what actually matters is that humans shouldn’t have a right to use other human bodies as a resource without consent no matter how alive or sentient they are, even if they’re on the brink of death you have the right to deny them access to you. It probably was too radical for pro-choice activists back in those days but like…that’s the most robust arguement lol so we need 2 being that back and dead the pontifications and splitting hairs about “life” in my honest onion

I found it. Actually, it was written in the 70’s. She was way ahead of the curve.

The article is ‘A Defense of Abortion’ by Judith Jarvis Thomson. Essential reading!

If you cannot demand that a person donate their organs to keep you alive, you have no right to legislate that an embryo gets to use a woman’s body to keep itself alive without the woman’s consent.

Ahhh forgiveness. If only if only it had happened. Alas. Ears-wax.

This takes place after the battle of Hogwarts. Draco and Harry have an intriguing relationship both within cannon and without and they are my favorite relationship to read about, regardless of intimacy level (arch enemies to lovers), but I do have a soft spot for Draco owning up to his bullshit and hitting that enemy-to-friend trope HARD.

If your fic is 1000 words long, you can’t tag it slow burn. It’s not slow burn. That is a matchstick. And this is my personal bias here but if those motherfuckers you’re writing experience significant forward momentum in their relationship in under 5k words, then that is just a regular old burn. Slow burn should be borderline intolerable and a mistake to start reading at 2 in the morning.

If the fic doesn’t have multiple scenes where two people almost kiss but then don’t because of a contrived interruption that they are both grateful for and angry about, until the desperate reader is forced every other paragraph to mutter, “this is fucking ridiculous, this is bullshit, I’m so fucking mad, please update sooooooooooon,” then it isn’t a slow burn. It is a romance and that is a lovely thing but. Slow burns should feel like being set on fire unto your death but the tinder is people not kissing and the spark is people who don’t admit they love each other and the whole thing is. You know. Slow.

CORRECT

With regular romance, there’s certainly trials and tribulations that keep characters apart – a good example would be most Romantic Comedies.

What separates a Slow Burn Romance from regular romance is similar to what separates Don Bluth happy endings (like in Land Before Time or American Tail) from other family films. It’s that, like those happy endings, in a Slow Burn piece, the romance feels earned.

With romance, you typically can tell or know that two characters will get together, it’s just a matter of when. With Slow Burns, they can often make even the reader come to doubt that sense of inevitability in a story tagged Character A/Character B, which makes the eventual payoff feel even more amazing
