that facetious man
OKAY

That last reveal is really stretching my suspension of disbelief here
Cause
You really want me to believe that this guy somehow had shinigami eyes passed down to him
like how???
Those things disappear when you lose ownership of the notebook, so it isn’t an inherent trait and couldn’t be passed on even if one of his parents had a death note at his time of conception (which also lends the question of how that parent didn’t get caught for possessing the Murder Book and killed for killing people or how Watari missed that during the background check)
Like I get that they wanted to still keep an element of the original series/manga so that they could still say “Hey, look, it’s still Death Note related” but this is still such a stretch
especially because they’re using it as an excuse for why BB really isn’t murdering people since they were set to die that day anyway
1. He’s still the one who takes their lives
2. He mutilates their bodies
3. It’s really too convenient that 3-4 murder victims would all be ready to die in the exact pattern of days, in the same area, and have the correct pattern of initials that B.B. needs to set up this wacko case
4. B.B. had time to find all the victims and plan all that out in roughly a 4 month time-span

While I’m at it, there’s still other things I’m callin BS on
like, wth was with Ryuzaki being under the first victim’s bed the whole time while Misora was on the phone with L, yet she wasn’t able to hear him speaking under the bed???
Or him being right outside the door with her other call and not hearing him then either?
And why does L even need Misora to work on the case if he was gonna show up himself?? Doubly so if he was sorta gonna make her walk thru the case with him after he’d clearly figured a lot of the things out himself??
Like did he want to train her to start thinking like the killer in case they ran across something in the case he clearly couldn’t comprehend or figure out himself??
Idk
This is all so shady
or shoddy writing – I haven’t figured out which yet
(but our narrator Mello seems to want us to believe that this is the real L with Misora, so idk what to tell u)

Yeah, I’m with Misora on this one.
“I forgot”
Callin’ B.S.
how bout them initials

weirdosity
Tbh, it sort of reads like a fanfic that kind of gets the characters right – but like, overdoes some trait of the character(s), overstates it.
Like, yeah, L likes sweets and sweet things,
but he doesn’t eat entire jars of jam or coffee completely over-saturated with sugar.
The one time he did something similar to the latter was when he had been thinking out loud and was kinda playing with his food rather than eating it.
Not to mention the whole ‘crawling on all fours’ thing.
And idk if it’s because she’s younger here, but Misora seems much more… excitable? than the more reserved detective that appears in the anime. Tho maybe that still has something to do with how this case ends up effecting her? Idk

I take back every single semi-bad thing i said about this book

Damn
Well there goes my Vers! headcanon
