The unexpected apology unsteadies Harry. He doesn’t know what to say, so he reaches out to pat the thestral instead.

“They’re friendly,” he instructs, eventually. “You can pat it. Can I?” Harry moves to touch Malfoy’s hand.

Malfoy
nods and lets Harry guide his pale fingers over the thestral’s back.
After a moment, Harry lets go, and they each carry on petting the
thestral on their own.

Honestly, I don’t even know where to begin with this. @tdcatsblog I will NEVER be able to thank you enough for commissioning this stunning piece of artwork! As far as I am concerned you are festmodgoals, betareadergoals, fandomgoals, Thinker™goals, friendgoals, and humangoals! This art lives in my heart forever and I cannot stop looking at it and it just makes me feel like how I felt writing that scene and you are the most generous person. Like WHAT did I do to be worthy of modding with you? ❤ ❤ ❤ 

Modding with you and @unadulteratedstorycollector has been the highlight of my fandom experience. I am so filled with joy that I got to share this with you both, that we made this space together and that 55 creators came and made the absolute most of it. Reading over the pics as they came in with you both, screaming, over the art, SOBBING into our respective non-alco fermented bevs over the ANs. Fuck, I can’t begin to express with any eloquence how much this has meant to me. 

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for labouring through with joy with me, and also for being so, so patient with my heartfelt ingesting in the earlier months. I could never have modded without you both.

@sadfishkid this art is stunning and I just want to thank you INFINITELY for bringing this scene so vividly to life. The colours you chose are SO RIGHT! The warm orange creeping in. And this thestrals is fucking beautiful and Harry and Draco’s ensembles look AMAZING and RIGHT AS FUCK and how how how how did you capture SO PERFECTLY the tenderness of Harry taking Draco’s hand AND THEN PLACING IT ON THE THESTRAL I AM ENDED!

There’s Something I Need To Tell You [Drarry / 343 words / G]

Written for Discord Drarry Drabble Challenge, May 2018.
Prompt: “There’s Something I Need To Tell You”
Word count limit: 343 words.

The challenge was blast! I started writing fics as a drabble writer, so fussing over word count while trying to get a message across … felt like an old (+ a bit high maintenance) friend. Many thanks to @writcraft for organizing the challenge on the Discord server for Drarry Writers and Artists, and to the many wonderful people there who participated, both in the writing and squeeing!

There’s something I need to tell you,
Something about my skin.
It’s Marked, people say, and it’s true,
But I show it, for it reminds me of
My faults in the past,
Mistakes I’m unmaking in the present.
It’s a battle scar
For a soldier like me.

There’s something I need to tell you,
Something about my eyes.
They’re cold, people say, and it’s true,
But I use them, for they reveal who
My true friends are, and who
Trample on my name like dirt under their feet.
They’re Foe-glasses
For an outcast like me.
