Steve Rogers did, in fact, realize that something was off when he saw the outline of the woman’s odd bra (a push-up bra, he would later learn), but being an officer and a gentleman, he said that it was the game that gave the future away.

 (via)

No, see, this scene is just amazing. The costume department deserves so many kudos for this, it’s unreal, especially given the fact that they pulled off Peggy pretty much flawlessly.

1) Her hair is completely wrong for the 40’s. No professional/working woman  would have her hair loose like that. Since they’re trying to pass this off as a military hospital, Steve would know that she would at least have her hair carefully pulled back, if maybe not in the elaborate coiffures that would have been popular.

2) Her tie? Too wide, too long. That’s a man’s tie, not a woman’s. They did, however, get the knot correct as far as I can see – that looks like a Windsor.

3) That. Bra. There is so much clashing between that bra and what Steve would expect (remember, he worked with a bunch of women for a long time) that it has to be intentional. She’s wearing a foam cup, which would have been unheard of back then. It’s also an exceptionally old or ill-fitting bra – why else can you see the tops of the cups? No woman would have been caught dead with misbehaving lingerie like that back then, and the soft satin cups of 40’s lingerie made it nearly impossible anyway. Her breasts are also sitting at a much lower angle than would be acceptable in the 40’s.

Look at his eyes. He knows by the time he gets to her hair that something is very, very wrong.

so what you are saying is S.H.E.I.L.D. has a super shitty costume division….

Nope, Nick Fury totally did this on purpose.

There’s no knowing what kind of condition Steve’s in, or what kind of person he really is, after decades of nostalgia blur the reality and the long years in the ice (after a plane crash and a shitload of radiation) do their work. (Pre-crash Steve is in lots of files, I’m sure. Nick Fury does not trust files.) So Fury instructs his people to build a stage, and makes sure that the right people put up some of the wrong cues.

Maybe the real Steve’s a dick, or just an above-average jock; maybe he had a knack for hanging out with real talent. Maybe he hit his head too hard on the landing and he’s not gonna be Captain anymore. On the flipside, if he really is smart, then putting him in a standard, modern hospital room and telling him the truth is going to have him clamming up and refusing to believe a goddamn thing he hears for a really long time.

The real question here is, how long it does it take for the man, the myth, the legend to notice? What does he do about it? How long does he wait to get his bearings, confirm his suspicions, and gather information before attempting busting out?

Turns out the answer’s about forty-five seconds.

Sometimes clever posts die a quiet death in the abyss of the unreblogged. Some clever posts get attention, get comments, get better. Then there’s this one which I’ve watched evolve into a thing of brilliance.

i can’t believe thor wearing arm guards with loki’s helmet on them in avengers AND thor having a strand of loki’s hair braided into his own hair in age of ultron are both real things that the costume department did and loki in ragnarok still has the gall to ask poor thor “did you mourn me?” like yes loki you made your jock brother so sad that he started accessorizing

@redwoodriver @agent0hio the receipts. the hair I thought at first was jane’s but in other shots it’s 100% black and silky lookin….. like hey marvel? I just wanna talk. i just wanna talk

I know Zuko has an amazing character arc, but please never forget how Sokka went from being an obnoxious, sexist, jealous, mean, foolhardy, irresponsible joke to being a caring, loving, fierce, loyal, talented warrior, leader, military strategist, brother, friend, and boyfriend.

I remember when I was getting into Avatar watching the early stuff and having a really negative reaction to Sokka because I’m so used to that kind of character never actually maturing, and I find them endlessly irritating as a result. Sokka’s growth over the series is really pretty remarkable.

When I watched Avatar first time around I found both Sokka and Zuko incredibly irritating when they first showed up – they were my least favorites. The fact that they proceeded to become my favorites… yeah, remarkable is a pretty good word for it.

since i’m dumping nice refs today…

i remember that Alphys’ idea to set traps for Frisk bugged me quite a lot, because even though MTT obviously wasn’t going to hurt them, there also was other stuff like lasers, and it just seemed…really dangerous and mean?

but if your HP lowers to 1 when you’re crossing the first set of lasers, she says this:

and at the next set of lasers:

and disables them instantly

idk, i just was glad to see that Alphys got uncomfortable watching you struggle enough to stop her performance for a while and genuinely apologized

in avengers: infinity war, the titan thanos was required to sacrifice the thing he loved most in life in order to wield the soul stone, which led to the demise of his adopted daughter gamora. later in the film when he finally finishes his plan of wiping out half of the entire universe, we see some of the main characters of marvel cinema disappearing before our very eyes, and the eyes of other wellknown characters. based on the aforementioned sacrifice that the soul stone requires, it is suffice to say that the characters who did disappear were most loved by the characters they disappeared in front of. groot disappears in front of rocket raccoon, who’s already had to lose his best friend once. t’challa disappears in front of okoye, and he is a physical representation of the country she loves and has pledged her life to above all else. peter parker disappears in front of tony stark, who has taken him under his wing as a pseudo father figure. bucky barnes disappears in front of steve rogers, finally reaffirming that he is indeed the most important aspect of the captain’s life, and at this point in the marvel cinematic universe, truly his greatest love. in this essay i will

I’m rewatching chamber of secrets.

I just got to the part where Hagrid is busting into Dumbledore’s office and defending Harry and saying he will go in front of the Ministry of Magic and swear that Harry is innocent.
.
.
Now all i can think about is 13 year old Hagrid just wanting somebody…anybody..to stand up and say that they believe that he’s not the hier. That he didnt kill Myrtle. Desperately needing somebody to stand up for him.
.
.
Then this boy. A year younger than he was when he faced those charges is getting blamed for the same crime. A boy that is seen as diffrent. Like he was. A boy with no mother and no father to protect him. Like Hagrid.

And Hagrid is willing to relive those trials. Face the same people that took everything he had left and nearly made him leave his one true home. For Harry.

upon reflection nearly headless nick and harry were bros honestly like not only did harry skip a delicious feast to attend nick’s deathday party but also when sirius died the first person harry really spoke to about it was nick to ask him about the possibility of sirius becoming a ghost? and like harry always makes a point of speaking to nick at every welcoming feast and in turn nick always looks out for harry when he’s up to shenanigans and gets really offended anytime anyone tries to question that he’s harry potter’s primary ghost friend and ally. a truly iconic friendship

don’t forget that nick took a death blow for students from a basilisk and harry was really upset about it because no one knew if they could revive a (dead?) ghost

the thing i love about t’challa wasn’t just that he took killmonger to see the sunset, it was that he was in tears as he listened to killmonger’s story – that he was arguing that killmonger wouldn’t exist if t’chaka had simply shown compassion, that he understood the black panthers of the past had maybe been wrong. you can feel his empathy for people, and why it makes him the black panther whose story is being told; the most special thing about him isn’t his powers, or his suit, because there were black panthers generations before him. his fighting skill isn’t revolutionary – he gets beaten. the thing that made him special was that he has a big heart. t’challa is a good person. genuinely, a great one.

I don’t understand how you can see Killmonger disrespect culture, attack women, basically was trained by military to tear down civilizations, his own father says he is disappointed in what he’s done, move to arm black people outside of Wakanda with high tech weapons (yes cuz giving Leroy and em cannon blasters is gonna help the cause) and y’all still fix ya lips to say he was right lol when Nakia exists. Wild.

I was waiting for someone to say this.

There’s a reason he was the villain. He killed his girlfriend in cold blood. His anger was understandable, true, but his methods abhorrent and destructive. The end result would have been huge amounts of death and chaos. No positive outcome.

[Killmonger was an amazingly written villain and a great, if not perfect, example of how to execute a “tragic backstory villain arc”. Due to his characters anger and Michael’s incredible acting it made Killmonger a character a large amount of people could empathize with. An amazing villain. Truly.]

Nakia LITERALLY was team “let’s stop having Wakanda be an isolationist nation and help the worlds oppressed” from the jump and she doesn’t get enough credit.

this whole thread is A+

exactly! she was meant as a foil to killmonger with the same founding principles to demonstrate his extremism while also being ABSOLUTELY RIGHT
