Me: It’s 2017, no one wants to hear Gravity Falls meta

Also me: Stan never believed Gideon was an actual psychic—even though he knew supernatural things were possible, and even though everyone in Gravity Falls was against him, Stan always insisted he absolutely knew Gideon was a fraud.  Why was he so certain?

Gideon always called him “Stanford.”

Anyone with real mind-reading powers would’ve known that was actually his brother’s name, and he was living under a false identity

I really enjoy the irony that in the avatar universe typically:

firebenders/people from the fire nation seem cold and keep their emotions hidden

waterbenders/people from the water tribes are hotheaded and passionate

earthbenders/people from the earth kingdom are lighthearted jokesters

airbenders/people from the air temples are grounded and level headed

OMG HOW DID I NOT NOTICE THAT

I don’t…. like this……….#AND THEN HE BETRAYS THOR LIKE HA HA! and Thor’s like ‘lol saw it coming you never change. peace out have a nice life lol!’#so then Loki has to be a goody. Viktor is the best son in law

livixbobbiex:

Can we just talk about how much Toshiya and Hiroko probably love Viktor aka their new son in law

Aside from Toshiya bullshitting that he doesn’t know exactly who Viktor Nikiforov in this moment (like come on, unless he hasn’t been inside Yuuri’s bedroom or spoken to his son about his interests in eleven years), and just being a wing man here, I like to think that they had a full conversation. I mean, Makkachin had obviously been given free reign of the house at this point, so they must have talked about that.

What I like to think went down is Viktor walked in with a rehearsed (and slightly mispronounced) sentence of Japanese like “Konnichiwa! Watashi no namae wa Viktor-”

And Toshiya looks at him like “Here for Yuuri?”

“Yes! I’m looking for Yuuri!” All hearts and smiles. “I want to coach him in figure skating!” And then goes into a long explanation of how great Yuuri indeed is.

And of course he knows enough English to understand the meaning of that, so he politely directs Viktor to the onsen whilst he waits.

But aside from that.

Viktor has been there for… two hours at this point? Probably even less, but maybe not. Hiroko is already casually referring to him as Vicchan. He’s been adopted swiftly.

She sounds and looks so fond of him.

SHE LOOKS SO DAMN PLEASED WHEN VIKTOR COMPLIMENTS THE KATSUDON

And let’s just remember that Viktor is a walking advertisement at this rate. Given how much the Katsukis talk about promoting tourism, they probably adore him for it too

Also Yuuri is just as bad as he is lmao

Also the fact that the Katsukis are trusted with Makkachin says a lot. They ARE family at this point.

I hinestly think Hiroko and Toshiya would genuinely be over the moon when the engagement is announced. It’s one thing to mentally adopt Viktor, and another to ACTUALLY have him as their son in law.

TLDR, Viktor and the Katsuki’s have an adorable relationship I wish was explored more

This is such an interesting moment.

Mello very genuinely shows remorse for what’s going to happen to Soichiro. He doesn’t really have a reason to lie besides creating a distraction, but I think what he was saying before this- “maybe I should have killed you when I had the chance”- was supposed to serve that purpose. Plus, Mello not wanting to kill Soichiro makes sense. After all, just because he’s willing to use any means to achieve his goals (remind you of L, at all?) doesn’t means he’s willing to murder anyone and everyone that threatens him- he’d find a better way to get them out of the picture.

That’s why this is one of the most powerful demonstrations of Mello’s resolve in my opinion, and it chills me to the bone every time. Up until this point, we’ve never seen Mello’s actually kill someone- he didn’t write in the Death Note and any deaths caused by him were indirect. Mello definitely is not the trigger happy, lit fuse killer that some people interpret him as, but this scene tells me without a doubt that if the situation had been reversed, Mello would have written Soichiro’s name in a heartbeat (pun unintended). I think Mello is sorry because he knew that  Soichiro opposed Kira, and so in that sense, they were allies. He knew that Soichiro was just, and he also knew that was why he was going to die, because he wasn’t able to put aside right and wrong and do what is necessary.

That face in the last gif? That’s the face of someone who’s done what has been necessary.

In Love with these scene ***

k why is this gif the funniest shit i’ve ever seen it makes me feel like i’m entering another plane of reality

ok guys I haven’t been able to stop thinking about this gif since I saw it and I just need to unpack its various elements for a second:

1. the central tension of this scene, obviously, which is thor realizing jeff goldblum dicked down his kid brother

2. the fact that jeff goldblum either apparently never learned how to wink OR is trying and failing to bat his eyelashes

3. the way loki opens his mouth as if to try to explain himself to thor and then looks back at jeff goldblum and decides, nah, we’re good, there’s no coming back from this one

4. the fact that whoever made this gif decided this scene wasn’t hysterical enough on its own and added dramatic telenovela zooms

5. the combined effect of all of these elements being that not only can I not stop thinking about this gif but also I hear the kill bill siren whenever I look at it

that owari no seraph feel when people interpret the dependency that Mika has on Yuu as a creepy possessive “yandere” thing and not an “our entire family died and we’re all we have left, I already gave up everything I had for you and you’re still in danger, I’ve been used and hurt by the world and the possibility of you being still alive is the only thing that’s kept me alive” thing

Adding on to this, when people talk about Mika’s obsession with Yuu as though it’s a one-sided thing, and Yuu hasn’t been plagued with guilt for years since he escaped, wasn’t driven ENTIRELY by revenge against the monsters that took Mika away from him, and didn’t let go of his all-consuming hatred for vampires that drove him for Mika’s sake, even going so far as to let him suck his blood directly so that he wouldn’t need to suffer- Not to mention that even when Mika wasn’t there he talked and thought about him constantly

like, people tend to forget that even if the JIDA was using Yuu and had its problems, it was full of good people who helped Yuu to grow as a person. Without them, there is no way that Yuu would be where he is now. Mika didn’t have anything like that. Mika had himself, the vampire who abused him as a child and killed his family, and the vampire he’s dependent on for life. That’s not the sort of environment that encourages the happy, open disposition that Mika used to have.

there’s some lava bending going on there….
so she separated the ground down to the mantle layer (magma chamber)?
then floated that chunk on lava then air bended it over?

This is often cited as the single most powerful feat in bending in the entire franchise, and I’m inclined to agree. Kyoshi Island also manages to wind up quite a distance from the mainland–let’s assume it’s still on the continental shelf, otherwise MY GOD–and is large enough to sustain a reasonably-sized village with agriculture. Unless there’s an earthbending equivalent of the great comet going on, this is nuts.

Avatar Kyoshi also lived to 230 years old.

All of this begs the question to me–what the hell was up with her? Did she get a spirit-world power boost or something? These things are all very much outside the norm, even in a world of such extraordinary people.

What’s everybody’s theory on this?

She was just that strong

My thought has always been that Kyoshi was one of the few Avatars that was completely at peace with who and what she was.  Every other Avatar we’ve seen – even the best of them like Aang and Korra – are conflicted over what they have to do and how they do it.  Guilt and self-loathing over their responsibilities and actions, regret over what they could have done better.

Kyoshi, however, never doubted herself.  Even without being arrogant, she always saw that what she did had to be done.  She took what were the only options.  You see this even in the advice she gives to subsequent Avatars: Be decisive.  Be final.  Commit.

Because of that, she was one of the few (Maybe only) Avatars who was able to completely encompass the powers available to them.  No part of her subconsciously didn’t want to use them.  There was no hesitancy buried so deep that she even didn’t realize it,   Unlike Aang, or Roku, or Koruk, or Korra, or Yangchen, or even Wan, she was able to give herself over totally to whatever she was doing and hold nothing back.

That’s why she was able to accomplish feats of bending and skill that no other Avatar could equal: Because she, alone of all the Avatars, had she SHEER CHUTZPHA to do it.

other avatars ask “can i do it?”

kyoshi says “of course i can.”

More like “I will do it”

#I DON’T THINK YOU UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH I LOVE ZUKO AND HIS CHARACTER ARC

My favourite thing about this, is that he goes back to his father, and holds him accountable for his actions. He’s thought he was in the wrong for years. That it was his fault he lost his honour. To see him come to this understanding that he was a child and his father was the responsible party was amazing.

I can’t even think of any other animated kids shows where the abuser is called out on their abuse as openly and directly as he was in this show. And don’t even start me on the importance of them showing that a male child can be the victim of abuse by a male parent. That’s a demographic that so often gets brushed aside and they get told to “man up” or in this case “act like a Prince”. And Zuko gets to stand up and say “I AM a Prince. You’re the one who was wrong”.

GUYS I FIGURED IT OUT

Okay so you know how in Beauty in the Beast…

This lady can’t afford six eggs, which always struck me as a little odd but I figured maybe that was normal in a poor French village. I mean, look at all the little kids she has; she probably struggles to afford any kind of food that would feed all of them… Right?

But later we discover something interesting about Gaston:

image
image

Gaston eats five dozen eggs every day. That’s 60 eggs. SIXTY. Which adds up to 420 eggs per week. No wonder this poor village doesn’t have enough of them to go around!

Gaston, who is very well-respected and successful and probably makes good money from his fabulous hunting skills, is cornering the entire egg market. To feed his addiction, he probably has to constantly go around and buy out every farmer’s supply of eggs, which causes the price on any remaining eggs to skyrocket.

Gaston is singlehandedly destroying the town’s economy.

Way to go, Gaston. You may be popular, but I’m sure that at least the chicken farmers were relieved when you fell to your death.
