Well, hello @ramenifyouplease, we may not know one another, but it’s a pleasure to meet ya!

I’m afraid it won’t be anything nearly as exciting as working on a Lit Mag since it would be looking over a prompt that would be given to other people to write about in full.

But, if you’d still be interested to see what I came up with, I’d totally be grateful!! (Here’s the rules and guidelines for the Fest I’d be submitting to)

@unusuallyzealousburgette   I know that some of the older fandoms do, and that the marvel fandom’s different shipping fandoms will occasionally have some.

But for most of the newer fandoms I’ve been in, I’ll be lucky to find a 20k word one-shot. Most of the newer fandoms seem to be gravitating toward short chapter installments for even 10k word works (which isn’t a bad thing! Just different. And probably a result of having younger people in those fandoms who have less time to write in a day and want to get their work out quicker, and to get readers more invested in the work of authors they don’t know yet)

It’s just that I had switched back over to drarry fandom last night for a read, found a long, novel-length one-shot, and was struck by the (somewhat nostalgic tbh) fact that I hadn’t seen one in ages outside the drarry fandom.

Ahhh I hope you got to work on time and weren’t too dead on your feet.

The Indie Author’s event was pretty fun – if not very crowded. There were several cool people there, and they talked about – not just their books – but about their experiences with the publishing industry and other authors they’ve met. There were even raffle prizes we could try to win (probably because it wasn’t all that crowded, I ended up winning one! Tho I have to go back to the place tomorrow to pick it up since it was announced after I left).

Yeah, no doubt.

I wasn’t saying anything against the AU, just that the idea of them happy together gives me emotions because

I got to the part where Helen dies in Jane’s arms while they lie sleeping together.WhatthefuckwhatthefUCKI’m ruined

So far so good! At the outset, I was initially concerned with the turn the story would take, what, with one of the early end notes comparing the story to Pamela (story of a servant constantly being harassed by her employer until she marries him) because Jane will supposedly marry her “Master” (whatever that may mean in this story). But her recognizing and condemning the abuse and suffering she’s gone through, as well as the suffering of others, has warmed me more to the story’s potential.

And I’m here for Jane/Helen
