After losing his bench in a Democratic sweep the night before, Harris
County Juvenile Court Judge Glenn Devlin released nearly all of the
youthful defendants that appeared in front him on Wednesday morning,
simply asking the kids whether they planned to kill anyone before
letting them go.

“He was releasing everybody,” said public
defender Steven Halpert, who watched the string of surprising releases.
“Apparently he was saying that’s what the voters wanted.”

Waiting for this to be used in a statistical study in 6 years showing it was a net benefit.

NV (and beto in texas) are both good examples of how shifting demographics and a fantastic effort to GOTV and back candidates can cause seismic shifts in states. Beto got within 3% of winning in *texas*. And Rosen won by 8% a race that was expected to be super close.

The dem machine in Nevada is freaking amazing to watch in action, and Beto helped build one a lot like it in Texas. Yes it’s disappointing he lost, but he barely lost and the work that went into his campaign can have long reaching and lasting effects and I can see a similar story in Texas as what happened to Nevada between 2000 and 2018.

Nevada went from purple to mostly blue. Texas can go from red to purple for the same combination of demographics and party effort.

I’d be remiss in not pointing out that a HUGE part of the Democratic win in Nevada was thanks to the unions helping get out the vote.

Unions are important in a myriad of ways but they’ve always been a big part of Nevada politics and know exactly which way to go to ensure their workers have people in government who represent their best interests.

Particularly if you live in Texas, please vote, just for the schadenfreude. Can you even imagine if Texas goes blue. Can you even imagine Ted Cruz losing. I’m getting giddy just thinking about the conservative meltdown. There is literally zero path to the Presidency for Republicans that doesn’t include Texas. If they have to sweat bullets for the next forever thinking that Texas might be a left-leaning state… guys, this just sounds like a fun time.

Vote for Beto for the schadenfreude.

Beto is fucking BEHIND!!! Get out there and VOTE!!!

Last I checked, Beto is behind by like 4%. That is already huge for a Democrat in Texas by my understanding, and that is only polling “likely” voters, which literally never includes young people. If people our age turn up to vote, it would definitely swing the election massively towards Beto. 

Texans, please do it. For me.

Hey there US friends! If you’re voting using these machines (Hart eSlate) or similar ones right now or in the near future, make sure that the machine has NOT changed your ballot before casting it, ‘k? It’s apparently an already known problem, and has been for years, but has never been fixed.
