Something about the side characters acknowledging Papyrus’ existance makes me very happy. :,3
Same – most of them are either concerned about Sans’s disappearance rather than Papyrus’s, or feel something’s wrong but don’t know what. It is nice to know that some of them do acknowledge Papyrus. (…though in Doggo’s case, if Dogamy and Dogaressa are killed, he’ll talk about their absence and not bring Papyrus up at all, as seen in that one video on Youtube that shows some of these lines. (as a result, I actually didn’t know about this until now so thank you :D) But he’s probably closer to them than to Papyrus, so it makes sense.)

Maybe it’s because Papyrus is the only one who doesn’t actually sneak up on him. He did mention that the “tall skeleton” is very loud. So he’s never taken by surprise with Papyrus because he can hear Papyrus even if he can’t see Papyrus. Maybe they’re close for that reason. 😀
Yeah! That’d make sense. Doggo appreciates Papyrus because Papyrus always makes it clear when he’s present. 😀
What makes it even better is that Papyrus generally stands completely still with his battle sprite which means that he is capable of doing so. (I mean, the text says he’s putting things behind his non-existent ears and such, but other than that?)

also!! i just realised that Papyrus’ and Doggo’s stations are right next to each other.
plus, when you call Papyrus at Doggo’s station:
like?? that’s so cute?? to me?
and like… Doggo doesn’t like Sans, so imagine him gravitating towards Papyrus when dealing with the skelebros, and just….
